Dear Saranac CSD Community,

This is a friendly reminder that meals for all students are FREE until June 2022. We would like to encourage you to use this opportunity to check out our wonderful breakfast and lunch meals.

Meals will be available over the summer at various pickup locations throughout the district. There will be a survey link at the bottom of this article asking for feedback regarding location and times for pick up.

We offer balanced meals comprised of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk, and meats.  Local options are purchased whenever possible to support our community.  In leu of widespread obesity and diabetes, we provide age-appropriate portions and limit sodium and fat. We encourage you to try our breakfast and lunch meals even if you are learning remotely.

Below is an update from the USDA regarding school meals. According to article, a study in 2018 discusses schools being the single healthiest source of U.S. food consumed; diet quality for school foods improved significantly from a similar study conducted in 2003-2004.

Meals are currently free because of the ongoing pandemic and the government allowing increased flexibility.

We appreciate your cooperation, and we encourage feedback.  Please contact Isaac Dirolf, (518)565-5705 or idirolf@saranac.org, for more information or to sign up.
