2020-21 Meal Prices
Important Update: Saranac CSD food service department will be delivering meals during the remote learning period. Meal deliveries will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. There are two exceptions: During winter break there will be a 5 day delivery on Monday, December 21 only. Per State and Federal regulations the school is only able to send out 5 days maximum at one time. The week of December 28 no staff will be in the building, therefore, meals will not be sent out.
* Meals are free for all students until June 30, 2021, or until funding runs out, per the USDA*

Information To our Families from Saranac’s Food Services and Cafeterias:
6/10/2020 - Important information:When reheating the chicken and gravy, please reheat to a temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit using either your stove top or microwave.
In the upcoming weeks meal delivery days will be adjusted.
Meal deliveries will remain the same the week of 6/8-6/12, but the delivery on 6/10 will include meals for 6/10-6/15.
The following week meal deliveries will take place 6/16(meals for 6/16-6/19) and 6/18(providing meals for 6/22-6/26).
In order to continue to provide a variety of nutritious foods to our students within our delivered meals we may send home foods that need simple cooking and/ heating before eating. We will provide suggested instructions here and if you have any further questions please call our offices at (518) 565-5705.
Monday, June 1
Pizza: Using an conventional oven preheat to 400 degrees and cook for 17-20 minutes.
Chicken nuggets: Using a conventional oven preheat to 350 degrees and cook for about 30 minutes (Item is precooked)
Popcorn chicken: Using a conventional oven preheat to 375 decrease and cook for 6-8 minutes (Item is precooked)

Hot Dog (Reduced fat Turkey Frank) on bun will be sent home for Lunch
Boiling hot dogs is an easy way to prep hot dogs inside — and they're ready in just minutes. First, fill a medium-sized saucepan halfway with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Once it's boiling, add in as many dogs as you wish to eat. Let the hot dogs boil for about 5 minutes until plump
Consider warming the buns in the microwave.
1. Open the bun and place it face-down on a paper towel. A plate is OK but is not necessary.
2. Wrap the bun in the paper towel or place a second on top.
3. Microwave on high for 10-15 seconds. Check for a warm, soft texture. ...
4. Don't microwave the bun with the hot dog in it.
Stovetop: Set a pot of water on the stovetop and fill it with about a quarter-inch of water. When your steam basket is set inside the pot, the water level should be below the bottom of the basket. Bring the water to a boil, then set the buns inside the basket and cover the pot for about 30 seconds.

Breaded Mozzarella Cheese Sticks:
Cooking instructions for Families: Oven: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place frozen mozzarella sticks in a single layer on a baking sheet. Heat at 400 degrees F
for 7 minutes. For best results, turn sticks over after the first 3-1/2 minutes of heating. Allow cheese sticks to stand for 1 minute before consuming.
